Albanian Riviera Explorer: Llogara to Ksamil in Three Days
3 giorni / 2 notti · Da €340 a persona · Max 12 persone
Su questo viaggio
Three days down the Ionian coast, driven south to north on the last day so the light is always behind you — and stopping at the bays that still have no car park.
Punto d'incontro: Durrës, Volga Square — beside the Venetian tower, 07:30 on day one
The road from Vlora climbs for forty minutes before it shows you anything. Then the Llogara pass drops away and the whole Ionian coast is below you at once — a hundred kilometres of it, folded between the Ceraunian mountains and water the colour of a swimming pool.
Most people drive the length of it in a single day and remember a blur. We give it three, and the Riviera becomes a different place: bays with no sign and no car park, a fortress standing in the shallows, and olive groves older than the Ottoman empire.
Small group, and one deliberate reversal
Twelve people maximum, in two vehicles. We drive south on days one and two and return north on day three — the light is behind you the whole way, the sea reads turquoise instead of silver, and every viewpoint falls on your side of the road. It costs nothing and it changes the entire trip.
Two nights in family-run guesthouses in Himara, not a resort. Breakfast is on the terrace and the owner will tell you which bay is empty that morning.
Il tuo itinerario
Over the Llogara pass into Himara
We leave Durrës early and are over the pass before the tour buses. Coffee among the pines at the top, then the descent — twenty-nine hairpins, each opening onto more water than the last. Afternoon swim below Himara and the first night in the old town.
The bays nobody photographs
A full day on the water. Gjipe, where a canyon opens straight onto the sea; Filikuri, reachable only by boat; and Porto Palermo, less a beach than a fortress on a spit built for Ali Pasha and still standing in the shallows.
Butrint, Ksamil, and north into the light
South through the oldest olive groves in the Mediterranean to Butrint, where a Greek theatre, a Roman forum and a Venetian tower sit within three hundred metres of each other. A last swim at Ksamil, then north with the sun behind us. Back in Durrës by 21:00.
